Method of selection:

A standing committee of 3 officers/directors, one of whom shall be the chair, and 2 non-board members shall consider and nominate individuals and groups whom they deem to be worthy in each category to the board for a final decision.  All categories may not warrant a nomination for every class.  It shall meet when appropriate to consider potential nominees.  The MCHS board will consider and vote on nominations from the committee to approve recipients.

A candidate may qualify in more than one category.  If so, he/she will be nominated for the primary one and total contributions will be acknowledged and described in the citation.

Worthy individuals who are deceased shall be considered on equal footing with those still living.

The committee shall prepare the citation and certificate for presentation for each awardee after board confirmation.

The first class of recipients will be unique and may include more selectees than will future classes.

Exception:  Committee will be the filter for potential nominees for the Walk of Fame category.  Existing procedures for final selection will subsequently be followed.  A Walk of Fame selectee may have previously been honored in another category.

Presentation:

The first class of recipients or their designees will be honored at a specific ceremony with appropriate media coverage to document our emphasis on promoting issues of historical importance.

Subsequent ceremonies will be held as part of the Annual Meeting in August.  If a recipient or designee/representative is unable to attend that ceremony, he/she will be recognized at the next general membership meeting that he/she can attend.  If travel or health constraints effect a normal presentation, the board will devise a special event appropriate to the circumstances.

Posthumous recognition will include presentation to an appropriate descendent(s) or family representative
